Dr. Omar Abu Saada, assistant artistic director of the Interactive Theatre in Public Schools project, is among three Syrians participating in this year’s Edinburgh Art Festival. The other two Syrians are dramaturge Dr. Hannan Kassab Hassan and chorographer Osama Hilal. The Festival was held between August 22ndand 28thand witnessed a variety of British contemporary shows.

The results of the AFAC’s first call in 2011, which opened for proposals on February 14th earlier this year, are announced today after careful and systematic evaluation of 400 applications, received from 32 countries in the categories of Literature, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.
35 applicants – 21 individuals and 14 institutions - are awarded with grants amounting to $350,000. Among them are five Syrian artists.
